Those of you in the know will already be aware of this fantastic volume from Brepols that has just been published: Bear and Human: Facets of a Multi-Layered Relationship from Past to Recent Times, with Emphasis on Northern Europe .
I am incredibly excited to get stuck into this as my first Essential Reading – all 1198 pages of it!
Incidentally, the research at the root of this project was initially a possible contribution to this volume, before I realised that I had so much more I wanted to look at. Such is the way of academic research: sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day to do everything you want, and things have to sit on the backburner for a bit.
Luckily for me, I now get the chance to do a more focussed and in-depth job; and I am so thankful for that – and indebted to all these fabulous researchers and colleagues who have put together this volume just in time for this project to start!
I'll try and review a few chapters as I go along.
